My best read of the week this week is a flight over Ithaca. Graduating senior Apurva Koti sent this video love letter via Cornell’s student newspaper.

“It’s essential during these times that we remain connected to what we cherish,” Koti writes. “I hope this film stirs some spirit of celebration of what brought us all together in the first place.”

The footage shows a place I know intimately: the campus I work on in the town I live in. I stay here year after year while cohort after cohort of students arrives, moves through, and graduates. Yet the place remains, and all of us—townies and transients—can love for what it is. I’m as moved by this graduating senior’s perspective as I am by the unfamiliar and daring camera angle.
