This article in Wire, “Kraftwerk and Black America: A Musical Dialogue,” was just fun to read, especially since an old friend sent the link. There are some great music clips embedded.

If I were a scholar, I would study music history and I would write about the artistic connections between Berlin and Detroit in the late 20^th century. This is a good week to think about them: Detroit hosts Movement, the electronic music festival, on Memorial Day weekend (pandemic years excepted). I would argue in my fantasy dissertation that it’s in electronic music that the two cities are most closely aligned.
